undecorated

Sometimes I tire a bit of all the cumbersome trappings of design and decorating. At those times you can have your ikat and your Chinoiserie, your toile and your damask. I'll take this. Undecorated. Texture, commodious proportion, quietness, simplicity and light. Just looking at it makes me feel at peace. Now that I think of it, I believe Christiane Lemieux of Dwell Studio has a new book called Undecorate. I think I'm going to like that one.

I agree. I sometimes look at my big design books and see these rooms decorated within an inch of their lives and all the patterns and colours make my head spin. I would get so tired of living in those rooms. I look for rest and comfort, visual and physical, when I look at rooms. I love the simple, uncluttered undecorated look too.
