one house, two owners
March 6, 2011 at 1:14 AM So, this is kinda fun. It's the same house, published twice. First time it was published in ELLE Decor when the homeowner was Steven Gambrel. The second time it was published in Martha when owned by Jill and Daniel Dienst. So interesting to compare.

I like the intensity of pink that Gambrel used, but that last shot is my favourite. That chair is fabulous.
Wow, it's so interesting to compare. It's also amazing how the placement of the shot makes a huge difference too. I'm kind of digging Dienst's versions - especially the foyer. Swoon.
What a great post, so interesting to see two different interpretations of the same space. I love Gambriel's interpretation best!
Hi Margot
I commented a few days ago about Downton Abby and I forgot to mention to you that the actor who plays Mr.Bates is on another PBS show called, Lark Rise to Candleford. PBS Buffalo has it on their site airing at various times. After watching a few episodes I have really gotten into the quirky characters that the British do so well. I would tell you the time it's on, but I have just been stumbling upon episodes and when I look at the PBS site it airs at so many times I"m not sure what time is the real airing time and what is a repeat--go check it out!
I'm sure you will enjoy it.
I liked the Dienst for the first two and Gambrel for the res!
This is such an interesting exercise - I wish we could see more comparisons like this! I often wonder what happens to homes when they're sold, what people choose to keep or demolish, what colours they like or hate.
I'm really split too Jane. I like Gambrel for first 2, Deinst for kitchen, Gambrel for shot with settee, Dienst for grey mantel and Gambrel for last one -- no wonder I have trouble committing to decor decisions.
There is another place that Gambrel did that was later shot by House Beautiful with different owners but I'm still looking for the shots of it as Gambrel did it. If I find it I will post.
HELLO, They're both gorgeous but I goota say the Gambrel "look" just all seems to hang together, more polished, cya Le T.
Dienst mostly, I like both but he shows more personality.
I loved this post!
