favourite places: flower markets

Don't get me wrong, I love a crisp grey autumn day -- they are my faves and all about sweaters and scarves, merino wool and corduroy and denim. But sometimes on a grey day some cheerful blooms are warranted. Well, really cheerful blooms are warranted every day. So today I've been looking over pics I've taken at flower markets I've seen on my travels. In Toronto, I go to the flower markets at Avenue Rd and Davenport when I need blooms for styling, but I like in some cities how flower markets seem to just pop up on the street corner. Feast your eyes on these lovelies.

What a perfect round up for a gray and grizzly few days here in Toronto. I make a point of weekly walking down to my flower market to pick up 1-2 bunches of flowers. Alas, my flower market isn't bursting with tons of variations, but it gets a girl through a winter. :)

I am so fond of those Toronto flower markets! Every christmas my mom and I head there to stock up on greenery and white roses!

The flower market in new york is wonderful too--but suprisingly pricey! I suppose it helps to know the cheaper blooms---I always end up walking away with armloads of mums!

Haven't found the san francisco flower market since moving here---maybe I need to get on that!
